"And Elohim said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth." (Genesis 6:5–13).

America doesn’t seem to be interested in the truly significant news of the day. At the moment that this segment of "Prophetic Trends" is being written, the Chandra Levy disappearance story has crowded most of the other news out of the picture. Although the disappearance of this young lady (a government intern) is truly tragic, it is given major attention in the news media, crowding out a great deal of other important events that are happening around the world and within our own country.

John Leo wrote in a recent op-ed page remarking, "Real stories often get lost in the maw of media-group think." He also quoted Brit Hume of the Fox News Network who commented, "If you work in the media for any length of time, you notice that reporters, editors, producers, and correspondents have a common set of views on a range of issues—abortion, the environment, gun control. There is a resultant consensus so universal that it’s almost imperceptible to those who hold those views." These remarks by Brit Hume appeared in the New York Times magazine article that sought to explain why Fox News is doing so well today. Fox News is committed to fair and balanced news reporting as their byline suggests. John Leo’s article continues to examine various examples of slanted news. The individual who scrutinizes the news reports carefully must conclude that modern news reporting is heavily biased.

With the news media filled with juicy gossip, many news items that should be worthy of consideration by the average person are swept aside, ignored, and never published, or merely given limited space. Therefore, the public cannot draw informed conclusions.

At the present time there is growing discussion concerning the stem-cell research that is proposed. The average individual undoubtedly does not seem to comprehend the moral issues involved with this proposed broadened experimentation.

The question here in the United States is over federal funding for embryonic-stem-cell research. Even President Bush says, "I am wrestling with this decision." Doctors who met with President Bush commented that he is taking his time to come to a decision on this proposed research.

If you have been following the discussion, the issues are customarily presented in a rather confused way. Two separate laboratories have now announced that they were gearing up to use embryonic-stem-cell material to experiment in the hope of coming up with better medical treatment for various diseases.

In a recent article published in the press, it was reported that cloning has recently hit a major roadblock. Experimental mice that were cloned appeared to have the external features of their species; however, their internal organs were not functioning properly. This caused grave concern for the researchers. Doctors were quoted as saying that the expertise to do cloning of human beings is not yet far enough advanced so that good strong specimens can be produced. It seems that Yahweh’s creation is under assault from all sides!

It is now almost a year ago since the bovine research department of the University of Tennessee cloned a Jersey calf. A picture of that cloned calf appeared on the cover of the Jersey Journal (the breed publication). Since the editor is involved in our family project, Shalom Farm, which owns some Jersey cattle, he contemplated resigning from the American Jersey Cattle Association of which we are members. However, now it has been reported that the calf died because it too had serious problems with the functioning of its internal organs. Doctors have revealed that the organs do not appear as they should in normal specimens of the species, and therefore, they do not function properly. Consequently, the life expectancy of cloned animals is greatly limited.

When the editor was a young man, homosexuality was despised as a lifestyle. Even today it is obnoxious for him even to contemplate such a lifestyle as being homosexual. Yet today, 50 years later, homosexuality appears to be accepted throughout the world. However, it is not natural conduct. It is prohibited in Yahweh’s law and He makes it a capital offense. In this way, mankind also has tampered with Yahweh’s creation. The prophet says, "The show of their countenance does witness against them; and THEY DECLARE THEIR SIN AS SODOM, THEY HIDE IT NOT. Woe to their soul! For they have done evil to themselves. Say to the righteous, that it shall be well with him; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him; for what his hands have done shall be done to him. As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they that lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths." (Isaiah 3:9-12).

Yahweh’s law has clearly spoken. "You shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." (Leviticus 18:22). "And if a man lies with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:13).

Noah was a man who walked with Elohim, obedient to Yahweh’s commandments. Living in the midst of the nephilim (the Hebrew name means fallen ones, rather than simply giants), he was different. Noah found favor (or grace) in the eyes of Yahweh. Reverse the letters of Noah’s name and the word means "grace or favor" in Hebrew. Noah was a righteous man and perfect in his generations. Noah did not allow himself or his family to be influenced by the corrupt Cain society.

Today there is a group of people who seek to walk with Elohim. They remain separate from the world while living by every word that has proceeded from the mouth of Yahweh. It is our hope to be preserved from the wrath of Yahweh’s impending judgment.
