"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom stayed, they all slumbered and slept. But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come forth to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. But the wise answered, saying, Perhaps there will not be enough for us and you: go rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Master, Master, open to us. But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for you know not the day nor the hour." (Matthew 25:1-13).

"And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep: for now is salvation nearer to us than when we first believed. The night is far spent, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Sovereign Yahshua the Messiah, and do not make provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts of it." (Romans 13:11-14).

World Doomsday Clock Moves Ahead

Soon after the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the world’s doomsday clock was advanced by two minutes nearer to midnight. For some years, it had stood at nine minutes to midnight. With the results of international terrorism so visible, and analyzing the world’s deteriorating situation in regard to the evident current belligerence between people, the group that maintains this prophetic time clock felt that we had drawn much closer to the midnight hour of doomsday.

Almost in harmony with the sacred Scriptures and what we are finding in the study of end-time Bible prophecy, through analysis of the news media reports, some worldly people also believe that we are rapidly approaching the final, cataclysmic events at the end of man’s age. Why is it that so few people appear to recognize the lateness of the hour and are unmoved by these unmistakable signs?

Mid-East Instability

For the past 20 years the editor of the Sacred Name Broadcaster has been making annual journeys to the land of Israel, beginning in 1983 when Mrs. Meyer and the editor spent a month studying Holy Land geography and archaeology. In our studies we traveled all around the land of Israel, which seems to have shrunk since 1983. It was about 160 miles long and 60 miles wide, just about the shape and size of the state of New Jersey.

In order to set the dates for Yahweh’s annual holy days correctly, two specific scriptural requirements must be met. The first requirement is to find green heads of grain in the field and the second is that following the appearance of the ears on the stalks of grain, the first new crescent moon that is sighted will then be Yahweh’s New Year Day (Exodus 12:2 and Deuteronomy 16:1.)

In our hotel room in Jerusalem that evening the editor had just dozed off, when he suddenly awakened to find that Solomon was not in the room. Outside, literally, a hundred emergency vehicles were going by. Solomon told me later that the blast was so loud and so near, that the six-story hotel building shook. He had quickly gone down to the lobby to learn what happened. Just one-half block from our hotel, a suicide terrorist had entered the Moment Cafe and blown himself up. The television news immediately reported 10 deaths (later increased to 11), with over fifty injured. This bombing followed a shooting by an Arab in Netanya that same night, leaving two dead.

On the first day of the week we departed from Jerusalem, driving far into the Golon Heights all the way to the Syrian border. We saw many tanks being hauled. Then we returned to our hotel in Tel Aviv. The following morning we toured Megiddo and, thereafter, we cut the evidence of green ears of grain in a field located between the Tel of Jezreel and the En Harod (where Gideon tried his men). We returned to America on March 12, safe and sound. Praise Almighty Yahweh for His protective power!

Jeremiah the Prophet comments in two places, "peace, peace, when there is no peace" (Jeremiah 6:14, 8:12). The Hebrew text reads, "shalom, shalom weayn shalom." There can be no peace until the Messiah returns. If the United States of America continues to insist on Israeli capitulation in their struggle against Palestinian terrorists, George W. Bush will be a one-term President, just as was his father. There can be no peace in the Middle East until hearts are changed at the return of Yahshua the Messiah and He establishes the True Worship of Yahweh over all the earth.

True and Lasting Peace

A prophecy of Yahshua the Messiah appears in Isaiah 9:6-7. Read it slowly and savor its encouraging promises. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty El, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his Kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from now on even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will perform this."

With deteriorating world conditions, the only hope to reverse the global trends toward annihilation is for the return of Yahshua the Messiah, to establish a never-ending era of peace.
