The cover photograph portrays the well on the Tel of Beersheva. The name "Beersheva," means the well of the oath (or the well of seven). In Genesis 26:26–33 we find that Isaac’s servants dug the well and found water on the same day that he entered into a covenant and an oath with Abimelek, the Philistine king of Gerar. Jacob departed from Beersheva when he went to Haran to flee from Esau. A competing worship and altar was established at Beersheva, which King Hezekiah evidently had his servants tear down and the stones scattered in the walls of the public buildings, where they were discovered by archaeologists. See 2 Chronicles 31:1. Scenes and discoveries such as this build our faith in the veracity of the sacred Scriptures. Have you come to perceive the truth of the sacred Scriptures? May we help you gain faith in Yahweh’s magnum opus?
