This article will inaugurate a series of sermons preached by Elder Jacob O. Meyer before the Bethel Assembly. Let us begin this study as we listen to the voice of Almighty Yahweh speaking to us from the pages of the sacred Scriptures. A Tabernacle for Unified Worship The Tabernacle of Israel in the wilderness is described meticulously in Exodus chapters 25 to 30. The arrangement of the furniture within Israel’s Tabernacle in the wilderness is quite impressive. Israel was told to build the Tabernacle to serve as a place of unified worship while on their trek from Egypt through the wilderness to the Promised Land. We can perceive the concept of one aspect of these Tabernacle furnishings very clearly from Isaiah 2:5–6. "O house of Jacob, come, and LET US WALK IN THE LIGHT OF YAHWEH. For you have forsaken your people the house of Jacob, because they are filled with customs from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners." Scripture Reveals Correct Way of Life The term light of Yahweh has been clearly defined for us in the sacred Scriptures as His Torah (His Law). Repeatedly it is proven that the Bible is indeed a book of definitions, but a book giving definitions in such a manner that demands the constant reading and studying of the Word. "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; And reproofs of instruction are the way of life." (Proverbs 6:23). Yahshua Came as a Light to the World We find that this reference by John is to Yahshua (the Messiah). "In him was life; and the life was the light of men." Light and life appear in a synonymous relationship in this passage. Life and light! Have you ever looked into the eyes of a corpse and seen the lack of animation there, the deadness of darkness? Light is definitely synonymous with life. Raising flower plants provides another example. Give plants light and they will grow, remove the light and the life in the plant begins to subside. Yahshua Rules Within His Assemblies The seven-branched lampstand of the Tabernacle (and later Temple) sometimes was also known as a candlestick. The seven lampstands or lamps on the menorah represent the light of the seven assemblies. This is a metaphor, a direct assertion. The seven lampstands are these seven assemblies (the subject of the mini-epistles of Revelation 2 and 3). Yahshua walks in the middle of these lampstands, meaning in the middle of the assemblies. Yahshua’s Assembly Contends Against Idolatry The temple of Diana (Artemis) was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. From throughout the nations of the ancient Middle East, came people to worship this pagan idol. Yahweh here situated 12 disciples of John, the Baptist, in Ephesus. Paul arrived later and instructed them more accurately concerning the Messianic worship. Will You Make a Stand for Truth? How about you? Have you determined to make the same stand for the truth? You are virtually an orphan in the world, but you can depend on Yahweh for salvation. Are you going to say, "I will become more dedicated to the Word of Yahweh than I ever was before!" That is the only real course toward achieving greater spirituality. We must all recognize the love expressed in John 3:16 and in turn love Him because He first loved us. Remember, there is nothing that can stand in our way that Yahweh cannot remove, because He promised to do that for Zerubbabel, and I know that He will also move mountains on our behalf, the True Worshipers in the last days. Join us for the next several issues, as we explore this dynamic subject, "The Seven Lamps of Yahweh," and recognize how this prophecy applies to the modern-day True Worshiper—you and me—in these troubled times in which we are now living.
